Friday, 31 May 2013 2 comments

Tubal ligation is a procedure in which a surgeon tied the fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy. This is a permanent procedure, after which the woman can no longer get pregnant. After tubal ligation surgery the egg cannot reach the uterus and the sperm cannot reach the egg. Tubal ligation is also called tubal sterilization or "tubes tied."

The most common types of tubal ligation:

Types of Tubal Ligation and Reversal Surgery {Part 2}

Laparoscopy: A laparoscopy is a type of surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to get access the inside of the abdomen and pelvis without having to make large incisions in the skin. During the laparoscopy procedure, the surgeon makes one or two incisions around the umbilicus (belly button) and enters the stomach surgical instrument called a laparoscope. The surgeon uses instruments to block the fallopian tubes, using either cautery device (burning), or small clamps.

Mini-laparotomy: This procedure performed through an incision measuring less than 5 cm. This type of tubal ligation is also called a mini-lap. In this procedure a surgeon makes a small incision at or above the pubic hairline. The fallopian tubes pulled up into or out of the incision, tied off, and then put back into place.
Postpartum tubal ligation: This procedure done after delivery of a baby.In this procedure a surgeon removes a large portion of the fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy.

Essure procedure: Essure is a proven, non-surgical, hormone-free permanent birth control procedure that works with your body to prevent pregnancy. In this procedure a surgeon insert a flexible micro-insert inside the fallopian tubes without any incision. These micro-inserts inserted through the vagina and the cervix. Over the next three months, body tissue covers the implant and blocks the fallopian tubes. During these three months you must continue to use birth control pills.

Points To Keep In Mind before Tubal Ligation

No doubt tubal ligation is a permanent method of birth control and In many cases, women choose not to have any more children but you should keep in mind that time can change and later wish to have a child, you will be very sorry for your rashness. However, after a couple of months and years they change their minds and wonder if the procedure can reverse.

If you do change your mind about your tubal ligation and again thinking about conceiving, then experts recommends that you should seriously consider tubal ligation reversal surgery.  In Tubal Reversal procedure a surgeon reconnects the fallopian tube segments that remain after a tubal sterilization.

Types of Tubal Ligations and Reversal Surgery {Part 1}

A tubal ligation procedure is a permanent method of birth control where the surgeon cuts or seals off the fallopian tubes in order to prevent pregnancy. During sexual intercourse sperms from the male are introduced into the vagina. They travel through a channel called cervix and into the uterus. The sperms then move into the fallopian tubes where they can meet and fertilized eggs that have been released from the ovary and pregnancy begins with the fertilized eggs.

If you don’t want to become pregnant you may chose the birth control method from one of several categories “Abstinence”, “Contraception”, or “Sterilization” to permanently avoid pregnancy. Tubal ligation surgery is one form of sterilization. During sterilization process surgeon use the three most common types of tubal ligation methods such as Filshie Clip, Falope Rings and Pomeroy Technique.

 1: Filshie Clip: Filshie clip is a proprietary device used in sterilization procedures. These are small clips that clipped onto the fallopian tubes to avoid pregnancy. These clips compressed the tissues and restrict blood supply to the tissue and result is tubes blockage which prevents from pregnancy.

2: Falope Rings: Fallopian rings are also known as a Yoon ring, or Lay loops. These are small rubber bands that close off the fallopian tubes. These rings restrict blood supply to the tissue that is compressed, the results is egg cannot fall into the uterus to be inseminated by sperm.

3: Pomeroy Technique: In a Pomeroy tubal ligation, the surgeon makes an incision to access the fallopian tube. This procedure is similar to falope rings but the difference is surgeon create a loop in the oviducts and tying it off. After tying tubes surgeon cuts ties oviducts tubes and disconnected segments are closed with stitches. After this procedure eggs cannot travel down the severed fallopian tube, and thus the woman cannot get pregnant.

Tubal Reversal Surgery

Annually more than 600,000 women tied their tubes in order to prevent pregnancy but what happens when circumstances change and once again a woman decides to become pregnant? So in this case tubal ligation reversal surgery can help those women who have had a tubal ligation. Tubalreversal is a permanent and effective procedure that has a high success rate of pregnancy.

In this procedure a surgeon reconnects a woman's fallopian tubes so she can become pregnant. All the above mentioned tubal ligation procedure can be easily reversed by tubal ligation reversal surgery. However, There are various factors that can affect on the chances of a woman's pregnancy such as women age, type of ligation surgery, ovaries and uterus health, remaining fallopian tubes and especial tubes length.

All this happen because they think that they don’t need children anymore. In ligation surgery procedure a surgeon blocks a woman’s fallopian tube to prevent a woman’s eggs from being fertilized by sperm.
There are many types of tubal ligation surgeries such as tubes clipping, cutting, and burning methods and in each method surgeon use different amount of fallopian tube for ligation procedure and remaining tubal length effects on reversal surgery but that most important factor is tubal ligation surgical method, that how surgeon performed tubal ligation surgery.

These successful pregnancy rates are really impressive, as younger you are, the better your chances of getting pregnant after a tubal reversal.

Getting the right treatment is extremely important. Tuballigation reversal surgery is one time surgical procedure that allows women to get pregnant naturally and have more than one child. This surgery is great for those families who want to have more than one child.

The actual tubal ligation reversal surgery takes approximately 90 minutes. Most women can go home within 24 hours of the surgery even they can fully recover and work normally within 5 to 10 days. Chances of Conceiving After Tubal Reversal Surgery

Tubal reversal is becoming popular amongst women who want to get their tubes untied after tubal ligation so that they can naturally conceive children again.
However, many factors need to be considered by a woman before she decides to have tubal reversal surgery. The biggest question that my patients have is how quickly will they get pregnant. This is a difficult question to answer, as many factors contribute to a woman's chance of conceiving after tubal ligation reversal. Because there are so many determinants in a woman's time-to-conception, it is impossible to know if a ligation reversal will result in conception or how soon a woman will get pregnant after surgery. Some women, for example, become pregnant quite quickly after the surgery, while others may take years or not conceive at all.

Many women have tubal ligation surgery each year to prevent future pregnancies. Once they learn of it, some women decide to look into tubal reversal financing as a way of paying the tubal ligation reversal cost.

Some women may opt to pay for their surgery on a credit card so that they can make payments on the total amount rather than paying an upfront as a whole. However, usually it is a much more cost-effective to try to pay it in one lump sum before the surgery so that you get the doctor’s discount as well as avoid all of the interest rate charges on your credit card.

You can certainly speak with your bank about getting some kind of the signature loan to pay for the procedure. Typically, the overall cost for tubal ligation reversal is under $7000.
